FAQS —
Cosmetic Tattoo
-
Microblading is a semi-permanent form of cosmetic tattooing, but unlike traditional tattoos, which use a tattoo gun, microblading uses a blade-shaped tool with a row of tiny, barely visible needles to create hair-like strokes along your brows while depositing pigment int your skin.
The pigment is applied superficially to your skin (so your body eventually metablises it until it fades away), rather than placed into your skin’s deeper layers (where it becomes permanent).
Because of the pigment used and the way it’s applied to the skin, microblading produces a semi-permanent ‘tattoo’ that looks soft and subtle, instead of opaque and bright as with traditional tattoos.
-
Most people describe the sensation as a mild scratching or irritation, similar to waxing or plucking your eyebrows.
A specially formulated compounding anaesthetic blend is applied prior to and during the procedure to keep you comfortable. The numbing cream means you will feel some pressure from the tool, but not pain. Most of our clients tell us the procedure is relatively pain-free.
-
Yes, stay away from alcohol and caffeine. You also cannot ingest aspirin or any other reform of pain killers for 48 hours before appointment. We ask that you inform us if you are taking any medications or supplements, as these could affect your healing.
We also ask that you refrain from plucking or waxing your brows for at least four weeks and using retinol or Vitamin A & C for at least two weeks prior to microblading.
-
This is different for every person, as several factors can affect how long the pigment lasts. As a general rule, cosmetic tattoos will last anywhere from one to three years before a new procedure is needed. Caring for your tattoo, which includes wearing sunscreen and avoiding certain active facial products will assist with the longevity.
We highly recommend to clients to allow the tattoo to fade out as much as possible before having a new procedure. This will enable the skin to repair, avoiding scarring and blurring of pigment migrating together from old to new tattoo.
We provide you with all the information in your session to enable you to nurture your new brows to promote longevity.
-
Though everyone differs, generally the skin is fully healed within a week. The final treatment results will then be visible in up to 3 months.
During the healing process brows can appear a little darker or flakey however, our style of tattooing ensures we keep this to a minimum enabling you to carry on life as normal.
